A Choice, Not an Alternative
Many people have come to regard Natural Medicine (a.k.a. holistic, alternative) as an alternative to conventional medicine. This puts natural health in an inferior position with a grandmother’s home remedy connotation. If this prevails, people will remain in the dark and feel stupid or silly for not taking some miracle pill or consent to surgery, amputations, etc.
In democratic societies, people have the freedom and inalienable right to choose how they want to live. Natural health is a choice and a way of life. Natural therapies do not work within minutes, hours or perhaps even days. A natural treatment can take much longer than that to help but is much more thorough and treats the malady from the source by properly balancing the body.
I kid you not, in most cases some dietary changes will be required and patience and perseverance are the name of the game. On the other hand, you can feel better in minutes or hours or days with pills, etc. and ignore the cause of the symptom. In return you will be rewarded with a chronic illness farther down the line, that you will not be able to get rid of.
In my years of experience as a Holistic Health Therapist, I have seen too many problems that could have been avoided with proper diet and care. By the time the joint has to be replaced (it is an amputation [more details will follow in later blogs]) so much damage has been done by neglect and ignorance that surgery is practically unavoidable. Many chronic symptoms can be alleviated and eliminated by the natural choice for diet and lifestyle but many people come to it as a last resort, when all other treatments have failed.
Nobody lives forever but quality of life is no less important than quantity. We outlive our body parts and subsist on medication that replaces and suppresses our normal bodily functions.
